Doug Farringer is the founder of Safe Fleet, Inc. Doug grew up in Ohio and has a bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Bowling Green State University. In 1976, Doug was working for a fortune 500 company as a salesman, when he was told by (more than one level of) management to lie to customers. Being a new Christian, Doug could not work under that kind of policy. He did what would usually be a foolish thing-he quit his job without having another one. He took a "stop-gap" job as an over-the-road driver for a large private carrier. He liked driving, and "stop-gap" turned into more than 15 years of over-the-road experience. In 1986, Doug fell in love with the safety end of trucking by accident - literally. He began working part time as an independent safety consultant, and in 1993, quit his driving job and went full time in Safe Fleet, Inc. Doug is considered by industry and media to be expert in accident prevention and regulatory compliance. He has aided truck users ranging in size from one truck to more than 1800 trucks, both private and common carriers. Safe Fleet started and still has a presence in the Kansas City area, and still has an office there, but in 2011 Doug moved to North Carolina and established our second office there. When not helping clients, Doug enjoys reading, Bible study, sailing and hiking in the NC mountains. He lives in Lenoir, NC with "the wife of his youth," Phyllis. Their two adult children, their spouses and children now live nearby in the Carolinas.
